It is a correct assessment that we should be “rapture-ready.” However, just like there is a death of pastors/preachers that are teaching holiness as readiness, there is equally a lack of those who are equipping saints to rule and reign where they are.
There is an old saying that B-I-B-L-E means BASIC INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE LEAVING EARTH. The Holy Spirit gave me a variation on this: Basic Instructions Before LIVING in the EARTH! This is important because many people are taught that Jesus came, died, and was raised simply to punch our ticket to heaven.
Religion teaches folks how to prepare to leave (pie-in-the-sky in the sweet-by-and-by) but relationship with God through Jesus equips saints how to live victorious lives in this realm (some-ham-where-I-am in the sour-here-and-now)!
The reality is that if God is just (and we can all agree He is) and that is all there is to it, when we accept Jesus as Lord and Savior, a la Romans 10:9-10, we would be raptured out on the spot.
But that doesn’t happen, right? That’s because it is our responsibility to witness the risen Jesus to as many as we can, because it is God’s desire that none perish, but all come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9). And while we remain, we have the promise of abundant life (John 10:10) with benefits (Psalm 103:2). We also have a promise of a life NOT free from tribulation, rather, overcoming the tribulation in Christ!
Also, for all the married brothers reading this, go back to your wedding day…did you have any involvement in your bride being ready for the marriage ceremony? Chances are, no! But your expectation is that she would come down the aisle clean, and orderly: makeup tight, nails done, hair fierce! You would likely have thought twice if she came down said aisle dirty and disheveled. Yet, today, that’s what we have. Racism, denominational dissent, doctrinal disagreement, musical mayhem, etc. Spot, wrinkle, blemish…oh my!
The Church, today, is a bride-to-be coming off a three-day crack binge. Do we really think Jesus is coming for such a disheveled messhe Church, today, is a bride-to-be coming off a three-day crack binge
That’s where the dominion authority — the durable power of attorney of the name of Jesus — comes in! We need to be about the necessary washing (with the water of the Word, Ephesians 5:26) and ironing (Proverbs 27:17) so we may be found ready when our bridegroom comes!
That’s why the five-fold ministry of Ephesians 4 needs to be about the work of equipping the saints with the understanding of salvation, knowledge of holiness, revelation of righteousness, and the doctrine of dominion! Instead of this, we have, at one extreme, those who would hobble the saints with religious junk (yep, I said it) and, at the other, those who abandon the true Gospel for motivational speaking.
We are to rule and reign with Jesus (Revelation 5:10) forever. This life is more than just the dress rehearsal, it is the opening act for your eternal destination!
I know this is deep! It is my sincere prayer that deep will continue to call out to deep, and that the Body of Christ will turn its face from the slipshod to the sincere!
