Regarding tithing or not tithing, the greater matter is Liberty in Christ (2 Corinthians 3:17). The point is, that whenever you teach someone that they have to do something, one must tread lightly, because we can easily segue into bondage.
You see, I serve the King because I love the King. I love all He represents and how He has set me free. I love Him not because I fear Him but because He loves me so much that He gave His very best to redeem me from sin, death, and religion.
I don’t tell anyone not to give because, if you truly love, you’ll give generously. However, I do not beat folks over the head as to how to or how much to give. That is bondage. I understand the premise that tithing is a matter of wisdom. I understand it – but I neither abide by it nor do I compel anyone else to do so.
I say give and give cheerfully (2 Corinthians 9:7).
When you see the blessing that is attached to giving – that is, when God sees your stewardship and He blesses you with ever-increasing substance – you will simply give more. What I’m talking about is wisdom as well – you can’t beat God giving!
And when you learn to give out of the abundance of your heart, God will cause men to give from their bosom – pressed down, shaken together and running over (Luke 6:38)!
Please understand, my point is not to STIFLE giving; rather it is to STIMULATE it! And not so much as giving for the maintenance of edifices and the lifestyles of their administrators, but for the expansion of the Kingdom of God in the earth!
