Kingdom at War

In the books of Joshua and Leviticus, the Bible speaks of times when “the land rested from war” (Joshua 11:23). But we live in a time where there is no rest from war.

The war we wage is spiritual and our weapons are not carnal (2 Corinthians 10:4). Ever since Jesus’ triumph over sin and death, and his restoration of the Kingdom of God on earth, war has been declared on the saints of God by the devil.

Jesus himself said “the Kingdom suffereth violence and the violent take it by force” (Matthew 11:12). He also taught that the goods of a household can only be spoiled (stolen or destroyed) if the strongman has been bound (Matthew 12:29, Mark 3:27). But just like the earthly strongman cannot be bound if he is well-trained and physically fit, the Kingdom strongman cannot be bound if he is well-trained and spiritually fit.

The Apostle Paul said, “I fight not as one that beateth the air…” (1 Corinthians 9:26). We must understand that the fight is on! The time for shadowboxing is over. He also taught that we must “place under our bodies and bring them into subjection” (1 Corinthians 9:27). Both of these passages allude to the need for physical discipline.

But we must also remember the full armor of God (Ephesians 6:11-17). Each of the defensive weapons – helmet of salvation, breastplate of righteousness, loins girt with truth, feet shod with the preparation of the Gospel of Peace, armed with shield of faith – are all spiritual. So why, then, do we turn to a physical Bible to arm ourselves with the sword of the Spirit, that is, The Word of God.

David said, “thy Word I have hid in my heart that I might not sin against thee” (Psalm 119:11). It is that hidden Word that is your true offensive weapon, not your physical Bible! For example, a doctor, when faced with an emergency appendectomy does not refer to his training material – no, he goes right to work based on the knowledge hidden in his head. If you are faced with an emergency and you need a now word from God, by the time you sift through your concordance to find it, it may be too late. A soldier in battle does not refer to his field manual in time of combat; he acts upon his weeks, months, or years of training.

You have to get into the Word…

God Hates Religion

God hates religion. ALL of it! What God DESIRES is relationship with His children. What he DEMANDS is that it happens through His Son, Jesus Christ. Only Jesus can save you from your sin nature. Krishna can’t. Buddha can’t, Mohammed can’t. Church can’t save you, the synagogue can’t, the mosque can’t, and the kingdom hall can’t.

Jesus threw down the gauntlet to religion when said THE statement in John 14:6,

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Every so-called religion has to deal with this seminal statement.

In order to understand the purpose of a thing, you have to get into the mind of the creator. If you own a Mercedes-Benz, you do not take it to the Chevy dealer for service. Only those trained in understanding the purpose of the thing can adequately service it. Similarly, one Mercedes-Benz cannot go to another and ask, “why is my check-engine light on?” So why do we turn to Oprah, Dr. Phil, et al to solve our problems?

God has given us His Word – it is a service manual for the broken man, a road map for the lost, a textbook for the unlearned, a book of law for the lawless but, most of all, it is a love letter from a Father to His children. I respect all cultures and I respect an individuals choice to believe what he wants. All so-called religions contain principles tantamount to a moral live but only one Book contains the path to salvation and eternal, abundant life.

There is but ONE WAY, that is Jesus, the SON OF THE LIVING GOD!!!

Making Your Mistakes Prosper

I have made enough mistakes in my life for both me and you. I have made mistakes concerning finances, family, and faith that could have been my undoing in this lifetime. And if it had not been for Jesus, I would have been surely cut off!

But thanks be to the God for His mercy and His grace. When you turn to Him and His Word, He makes even your mistakes prosper! Don’t believe me? Check out Psalms 1:1-3:

(1) Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. (2) But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. (3) And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

I like that! Whatsoever! Unqualified! Because I trust in Him and delight in His Word, whatsoever (that means everything, y’all) I put my hands to will prosper.

Now, don’t get it twisted, you cannot knowingly do wrong and expect God to prosper that! But if you are meditating (studying) and delighting in (loving) His Word, that very Word will keep you from doing something really sideways!

Just like God told the Prophet Isaiah (Isaiah 1:19), if you’re willing and obedient, you will eat the good of the land! If we delight ourselves in God and in His Word, we will experience His promised best! If we will confess and repent of our sins, God is faithful and just to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9)!

God is the God that binds and heals all wounds — Even when they are self-inflicted! Hallelujah!

Your Position in Christ

If we are in Christ, we don’t have to be concerned — like James and John — what our “position” will be in the Kingdom of Heaven (Mark 10:35-40). If we are, indeed, in Christ — abiding in Him and His Word abiding in us — then we are seated at the right hand of the Father with Jesus (Ephesians 1:20) with ALL things under our feet because they are under His feet (Ephesians 1:22). Praise God!

Authority Over Ability

Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you (Luke 18:19)

This scripture means we have AUTHORITY over the ABILITY OF the enemy. An 18-wheeler has the ABILITY to crush a man, but if that man has a uniform, a badge, and a gun, he has the AUTHORITY to command that 18-wheeler to stop. Once we understand that AUTHORITY (see Genesis 1:26-28), the devil who is under our feet on Sunday morning will not be on our back come Monday!

Don’t Look Back!

Listen and Be Blessed!

Don’t Look Back is a message to remind the believer that the spiritual windshield is bigger than the spiritual rear-view mirror. What God has ahead of you is far greater than what He has placed behind you!
