Hello and blessings to you.

My name is Bobbi Alexander and I convene a ministry retreat in April (3rd annual scheduled for April 27-29, 2011). I have read many of your posts/lessons and appreciate the depth, frankness, and commitment to the accuracy of God's Word. I am looking for a keynote speaker for the 2012 retreat. If interested I would you provide with preferred mode of contact for discussion of additional details?

Thanks and God Bless.

Comment on A Brief Missive on Tithing by Bishop Day

When folks reach back to the Old Covenant to teach tithing, they conveniently exclude Deuteronomy 14:22-26:

22Thou shalt truly tithe all the increase of thy seed, that the field bringeth forth year by year.

23And thou shalt eat before the LORD thy God, in the place which he shall choose to place his name there, the tithe of thy corn, of thy wine, and of thine oil, and the firstlings of thy herds and of thy flocks; that thou mayest learn to fear the LORD thy God always.

24And if the way be too long for thee, so that thou art not able to carry it; or if the place be too far from thee, which the LORD thy God shall choose to set his name there, when the LORD thy God hath blessed thee:

25Then shalt thou turn it into money, and bind up the money in thine hand, and shalt go unto the place which the LORD thy God shall choose:

26And thou shalt bestow that money for whatsoever thy soul lusteth after, for oxen, or for sheep, or for wine, or for strong drink, or for whatsoever thy soul desireth: and thou shalt eat there before the LORD thy God, and thou shalt rejoice, thou, and thine household,

Use the tithe to get your eat on...and your DRINK on (strong drink!)? Or for WHATEVER YOUR SOUL DESIRES?

Hmmm....

Interesting and eye opening! Jesus also included this in the model prayer "...on earth as it is in Heaven..." I have discovered that God has given divine inspiration to me as a musician that transcends the secular labels placed on it in the world today. What I've also noticed is that before tainted, all good and perfect things(gifts) are given of God and should be treated that way when 'received' from God.

What a wonderful experience 'church' will become when the body fully receives the revelation laid out in this post. Bless you Bishop Day!

Excellent points. The parable of the woman who gave a penny versus the tither is another good example of giving. She gave all that she had, and while only a penny, Jesus acknowledged it as a much greater gift.

I love how pastors and theologians cannot tell the difference between an eternal truth and historical mores. Its sad that we feel that we need not get context before teaching...

I agree. Suffering for Christ has nothing to do with sickness...unless, of course, you were purposely infected by unbelievers because of your faith. I think that American Christians in the last hundred years or so have used every bad thing that's happened to them as an opportunity to earn Brownie Points for being persecuted.

Hi Tom!

I agree with you that satan must have an open door in a person to "come in" an attack them. I feel, that it is usually in the form of issues of our hearts, which we all still are being cleansed of. So, in that way, we all are subject to his attacks. Thank God, He uses all for our good (even the attacks of satan) and His glory to comform us to His image. About suffering , however-No, I don't believe God wants us to suffer, but the Word says the even Jesus Christ learned obedience by the things He suffered, and it says that a servant (us) is not greater than their Master. (Him) So, in that way, we probably WILL suffer. Add to that that He says in this world we WILL suffer tribulation, even thought He reminds us that He has overcome the world, and, I believe we can too, but it will come as we learn obedience and trust, and as we let Him take dominion inside of us more and more, through the process called "sanctification." Even so, come Lord Jesus.
I believe that a person could have a problem free life, if and when they lay down their will and accept His entirely in their life. If they lose their life, they will indeed find it. But who is there really? Hopefully, we are on the road, but who has arrived?
